Ravagers are massive, volcanic-dwelling arthropods that resemble boulders until they decide otherwise. Curled tight, they pass for part of the terrain - a convenient heat sink basking in lava vents. When disturbed, the creature unfurls with startling speed, revealing powerful wings and a mouth built to crack stone.
These giants trace back to reinforced mining-support organisms originally developed to clear debris in extreme temperatures. In volcanic biomes saturated with exotic particulates and radiation, their physiology pushed into overdrive: chitin hardened into near-ceramic shielding, musculature expanded, and dormant flight structures became fully functional.
