The result of engineered scorpions being accidentally released on Icarus. It's likely exposure to environmental conditions in addition to exotic material that caused extreme genetic mutation.

Unlike most scorpions, this giant arachnid is territorial. It prefers a large plateau to nest, it's theorised that it may flatten it's surroundings to create an ideal hunting ground.
